MetIS is short for Metadata Information System. It allows users to discover and access geospatial resources stored in filesystem or databases. Non-geospatial data, services and software applications can also be catalogized.
The user environment is a common web browser. Users can quickly find relevant data or get detailed reports according to their needs. Having up-to-date metadata is necessary both to utilize your resources most effectively, and to comply with legislation and technical regulations like Inspire and ISO standards.
With MetIS you will know
- what metadata your company has, where does it have it,
- how accurate your data is, who created and processed it,
- who is the responsible person,
- what version of specific data you have,
- which data are obsolete and could be deleted,
- get similar outline over your software.
From Metis version 4 you can even get
- hierarchy trees,
- new and improved functions,
- metadata from ESRI_TM ArcCatalog
- FGDC-ISO transformations (ArcCatalog)
- etc.
