GISel uses SOAP to communicate

The possibilities to communicate with the GISel application from other application were enhanced when the new interface based on the SOAP standard protocol was introduced.

The SOAP interface supplements the existing TCP network interface, based on communication in special “command” language, with a standard form fully described by the WSDL (Web Services Description Language) document. Both of these network communication interfaces were created above the basic automation interface that enables the GISel application to be extended by additional modules and functionalities.

The SOAP protocol provides an easy link between the GISel local application and the distributed information system.
