Case study: Dispatch centre for regional public transport

The Integrated Transportation System (ITS) of the South Moravian Region (www) belongs to one of the most advanced public transportation networks in the Czech Republic. It integrates various means of transport – trains, regional buses and urban mass transit. Location of all vehicles operating within transportation system is being monitored (by Kordis company) in real time. This information is transferred to ITS where it is processed. T-MAPY was contracted to supply entire software equipment for the dispatch centre of ITS.

T-MAPY's system provides its users with following functionality:

• vehicle location data processing and visualization
• timetable creation (including consecutive connections’ guarantee)

• comparison of actual vehicle position to timetables (using flow chart) and automatic conflict solution, monitoring of consecutive connections
• automatic recognition of unexpected situations
• individual bus/train lines evaluation
• communication with individual vehicles through text messages (featuring an option to send a message to connecting train/bus in case of delay)
• information support for dispatchers,
• data exchange between various IS,
• automatic data processing and dispatching to respective organizations

After being processed the data is available to transportation companies (using T-MapServer thin clients) and are also displayed on electronic information panels situated at bus stops and railway stations. Furthermore passengers are able to receive information on actual time of bus/train departure on their mobile phones (via WAP application) or they can find out by checking internet map application.
