Case study: Map Portal of the City of Prague
Map Portal of the City of Prague is the central point for accessing digital maps of Prague area. The portal incorporates a number of map applications providing a variety of information ranging from basic maps displaying tourist and visitor information to specialized technical applications intended for businesses, users from public service organizations, universities and other institutions.
T-MAPY was contracted by the municipal authority of the Capital of Prague to design, implement and continually develop the map portal information system. Within the project a number of subsystems were implemented: unified GIS data warehouse built on Esri ArcSDE and RDBMS Oracle technology with a special system for data management and update, a system providing remote access to geographical layers and map services, a system for web GIS applications implementation and administration and more.
Natural part of the project was installation and configuration of basic GIS technology (ArcSDE, ArcIMS, ArcGIS Server), integration of the new system into other systems and applications used by the municipality office, load testing and on-going monitoring of the individual map applications, map- and data services as well as the whole system and data warehouse administration including data updates.
Map Application Framework (MAF) stands out among other applications implemented in this project. The framework, built on Esri ArcGIS Server (AGS) technology, is designed specifically for map portal administrators allowing them to create, manage and implement their own map applications. Within AGS environment ArcGIS Server Manager is the standard tool for map application management. The functionality of this basic AGS application was significantly extended. While the regular AGS installations supplies seven standardized tasks, MAF presents over twenty new tasks. These include spatial queries, setting up of specific rights to individual users, components and layers, exports and diagrams generating, extended editing options, adding map services to the application by users themselves, new features of table of contents (TOC) and many more.
Case study: New application - Katastr3 - for Karlovarsky region
Katastr3 represents a new application designed for efficient work with cadastre data. The application utilizes modern ArcGIS API (Flex or Silverlight – let us assist you with selecting the right technology for your project) combined with T-WIST REN (reliable application developed by T-MAPY).
Katastr3 offers not only modern, user-friendly design but also new type of interactivity – as user moves the mouse cursor over the map, individual parcels are highlighted. After clicking on desired area a floating window with parcel annotation, nearest address and link to detailed information appears. Thanks to interconnection to T-WIST REN users can also benefit from detailed area search based on various criteria. Quick parcel search as well as address look up is integrated into the application itself.
The application can display various cadastre data (vector and raster) as well as the most up-to-date cadastre map directly from Czech Office for Surveying, Mapping and Cadastre (using WMS). Base maps are represented by basic topographic map and orthophoto images, both with adjustable transparency. Naturally the application contains all the basic functionality and tools users are accustomed to have in place today (measuring, printing the map, link to the map, overview map, help, legend, scale and more).
Katastr3 is designed for customers who work with cadastre data on daily basis and use ArcGIS Server. The application enables its users to fully utilize information incorporated in cadastre data working in modern and straightforward interface. T-MAPY has a long-standing experience with processing and utilizing cadastre data (since 1996 it has been cooperating with public administration of the Czech Republic on creating cadastre maps).
